Rearrange Earn Rules

Earn Rules are typically organized into Earn Rule Groups, which are used to define the desired outcome in scenarios where multiple Earn Rules apply for an Activity Type. The platform supports three different types, or "strategies," of Earn Rule Groups. For more information on these strategies, see Getting Started with Earn Rule Groups.

One of these strategies (First Applicable Rule) uses the sequencing of the Earn Rules within the Earn Rule Group to determine which result to use. If this strategy has been selected for an Earn Rule Group, the result from the first applicable Earn Rule within the Earn Rule Group is used. Applicable Earn Rules are executed in a top-down manner, based on their sequence as displayed on the Earn Rules screen.

For example, let's say you have multiple Earn Rules for a Purchase Activity Type within an Earn Rule Group, and that Group is configured to use the "First Applicable Rule" strategy. When a Purchase Activity occurs, the platform executes the first applicable Earn Rule in the Group. If the Condition defined for that Earn Rule fails, the platform executes the second applicable Earn Rule, and evaluates its Condition. Once a Condition evaluates to true, the platform uses the result from that Earn Rule, and does not execute any further Earn Rules.

To rearrange an Earn Rule within an Earn Rule Group:

  1. Select Rules from the top navigation bar, then select Earn Rules from the side navigation menu. The Earn Rules screen is displayed.

  2. Optionally, search for the desired Earn Rule (see Search for an Earn Rule for more information on the available search options).

  3. Optionally, expand an Earn Rule Group by clicking the Expand icon next to its name.

  4. To the left of the desired Earn Rule, click and hold on the "handle" area.

  1. Drag-and-drop the Earn Rule into its desired new location within the Earn Rule Group.

Note: You can't move an Earn Rule into a different Earn Rule Group via the drag-and-drop method described above. To change an Earn Rule's inclusion in a Group, you must edit its properties (see Edit Earn Rule Properties for more details on this process).
